Enoshima Station 江の島駅, is a railway station on the Enoshima Electric Railway Line (Enoden Line). Enoshima Station was opened on 1st September 1902 as Katase Station. It was renamed to its present name in 1929. The current station building was rebuilt in 1999.
Shonan Subanatsuri Street しょなんすばな通り Is a fascinating walkway street starts from the Enoshima train station to the Entrance of Enoshima Benten Bashi (Bridge) with a full view of Enoshima Island. There are varieties of gift shops, Japanese restaurants, cafes, street foods and etc along the walkway street of Shonan Subanatsuri. At the entrance of the Enoshima Benten Bashi (Bridge), there is a boat pier where you can ride the boat to the Iwaya Caves. However, there is a recommended itinerary which you can start your journey by crossing the bridge and then ascend more steeply to the First Shrines, pass the beautiful Samuel Cocking Garden and Enoshima Sea Candle (Lighthouse) and then walk to the Second Shrines and Third Shrines. At last, descend downwards to the Iwaya Caves and to the boat pier. Enoshima Train Station -- Shonan Subanatsuri Street -- Enoshima Benten Bashi (Bridge) -- Enoshima Benzaiten Nakamise-dori Street -- First Shrines -- Samuel Cocking Garden & Enoshima Sea Candle (Lighthouse) -- Second & Third Shrines -- Iwaya Caves -- Pleasure Boat (Benten Maru) -- Katase-Enoshima Train Station -- Shinjuku, Tokyo You will be back to the mainland from Enoshima Island in 10 minutes by taking the pleasure boat (Benten Maru). Although it is a short ride, it will be a wonderful way to end the fun day out in Enoshima.
