Ujitawara in Kyoto is a well known tea town as the birth place of Japanese green tea which was devised in 1738 by Mr. Soen Nagatani. This was the birth place of Mr. Soen Nagatani. Normally, visitors or foreigners will not reach or know about this place. During some other days, it was supposed to be open and you can do the visit and learn more about the history of the Japanese green tea here. Unfortunately, when I was here, it was not open, cannot get to know more about the history behind. This was the birthplace of Mr. Soen Nagatani, who has invented the processing method of Uji green tea in 1738. It was located at a remote area and deep inside the foresty place. It was hard to be here if you were not brought by the locals. The road way leads to this place was really curve and slim, therefore, you will need a small car to get into this place. However, the scenery along the way was really fantatsic and beautiful. The air was fresh and cooling. It was surrounded by many tall big trees. If you have more time in Uji, Kyoto and interested in the history of Japanese green tea then this would be the best place for you to laze around and learnt something. It was said that before the invention of Uji method, the tea available in Japan was only the matcha and houjicha. Therefore, Mr. Soen Nagatani brings an important impact for tea industry in developing of Uji green tea. Since then, Mr. Soen Nagatani is a well-known green tea inventor - to be state in the history of Japanese Green Tea. It was surrounded by many tall and big trees ! Therefore, the air here was super cooling and fresh. Thank you Morita-san for bringing me here. It was a great experience and got to know more about the history of the Japanese green tea through him. A fun yet knowledgeable trip in Uji, Kyoto. If you have a local friend or you can find Mr. Morita to bring you around in Uji, Kyoto for more of the Japanese green tea history and the tour to his Kobataen Company too. It is about 40 minutes ride by Kyoto Keihan bus (from Uji Station on the Keihan Uji line / from Uji Station on the JR Nara line / from Shin-tanabe Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto line). 2. Then get down at Kogyodanchi-guchi stop and walks around 25 minutes to the birthplace of Mr. Soen Nagatani from Kogyodanchi-guchi stop.
